Artists' Statement
I grew up with rocks, trees and animals in the isolation of rural Australia. I travelled the world as a teenager and ended up settling in the USA. When my father died I returned from a half-life of self-exile. Sifting through the detritus of my childhood I had the impulse to make a film from my father's old film footage (see In the Shadow of Eden) and to rework the photos both he and I had taken many years ago. I wanted to enter the flow of ancestral memory; to see from within its mystery; to transmute and to honor what is original through re-cognition .
